Description:  1.0 FTE 2nd Grade

Job Summary:  To teach students through a variety of instructional techniques both the required and supplementary subject matter and skills within district curriculum and create an excellent classroom environment which is conducive to learning for each individual student;  incorporates and is open to inclusive practices. An open-growth mindset is needed and the willingness to participate in our school-wide before and after school events as we are a Title I school.

Qualifications:  Bachelor's Degree and an Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate.  Alaska Reads Act or approved equivalent.

Essential Duties

Safety and well-being of all students.

 

2Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis. Creates or selects, and administers suitable tests for summative, formative, and diagnostic purposes.3Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.4Maintains accurate and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.Assists administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct in school. Develops reasonable rules of behavior, procedures for discipline, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner within the classroom. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. 6Works as a team with other staff to meet the varying needs of all students. Staff members include but not limited to: special educations teacher, itinerant staff, grade level team, specialists, paraprofessionals and office staff.7Strives to maintain and improve professional competence, attends staff meetings, and serves on committees.8      9Other duties as assigned by principal.10      11      12      13      14      15      16      17      


Physical Requirements: LIGHT WORK: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
